Who knew that a “conversation” with God would lead to sharing my frustrations, hope and…
A Neighbor Daughter!
I created a FB post that lead back to my website, but truly it’s a surprise to me! When I put down my thoughts and wonderings they sometimes branch off into “interesting” (at least to me!) directions!
Here’s the post if you haven’t read it:
What are your titles? When we think about it we have MANY! I am first and foremost a daughter of THE King -our Creator, (not A king). I am also a daughter, one of 5, plus my brother born to awesome parents, which would then make me a -sister, but other titles include a wife, mom, grandmother, friend, neighbor, and the list could go on…
However, I have claimed a fairly new one and that’s what I’d like to share with you…we live next door to an active, brilliant 94 yr old gentleman. His wit is quick, his smile lights up a room and those blue eyes sparkle with a good joke and sense of humor. His family is not near by (not for lack of them trying to relocate him closer to the “family- but his choice). There have been a couple of medical issues where we have lent a hand and I’ve spent some time in a hospital “making sure” he was being “heard”… and in those times I was asked if I was “FAMILY”… technically, nope BUT a phrase popped into my head one of those times… I am his “Neighbor Daughter”!
This phrase has raised a few eyebrows but it’s a perfect descriptor. I don’t believe in doing life ‘by chance”, I trust there is a Higher Power in the mix of our daily moments and movements.
It is an honor and privilege to be our neighbors’ “Neighbor Daughter!” Now, please understand I am not taking the place of family at all, just available to bridge a gap when we’re here in the area.
Also, this is not an attempt to “boast” about doing a service, it’s a chance to share that: we do have opportunities to “Neighbor Daughter, or Son, or Sister or Auntie, or…you get the picture. It goes back to the question asked…”who is your neighbor?”
We are in what I see as a Season of Sensitivity on Ohhhh, so many levels! Whether you’re celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas, Kwanza, Hanukah, the Auroa borealis, a beautiful sunrise, or whatever…your “neighbors” are not in your life by accident.
Here’s where I can get overwhelmed when I see needs everywhere and wonder what my responsibilities truly are…Sigh…I believe with my whole heart that we have each walked down paths that have the potential and purpose to connect us with others in ways we are uniquely equipped to walk with our “neighbors” -Ha!!! This has circled around to Walking with others UNDER YOUR UMBRELLA! (That’s a whole other topic and truly was not a purposed direction when I started writing!) See, armedwithumbrellas.com for further understanding of that comment—God has a sense of humor!
ANYWAYS…Consider where you are being prompted, nudged or positioned to become a “NEIGHBOR Daughter or Son or Auntie….
Have an exceptionally blessed day!
Now it may make more sense from a Website perspective!
Under HIs Umbrella!
